For most Sri Lankan candidates aged 18–35 without a university degree, the Ausbildung (vocational training) visa offers the clearest path to long-term residency. This includes document preparation (4–8 weeks), obtaining a German Embassy appointment in Colombo (currently 2–4 months ahead), and embassy processing time (4–12 weeks). Starting preparation early is strongly recommended.
The exact list depends on your visa type, but most German visa applications require: valid passport, recent biometric photos, birth certificate (with apostille), educational certificates (with certified German translation), German language certificate, police clearance report, proof of financial support or training contract, and the completed visa application form.
